About the Manga
Brynhildr in the Darkness is a dark science-fiction mystery manga created by Lynn Okamoto. The story centers on Ryota Murakami, an intelligent high school student obsessed with looking at the stars to search for extraterrestrial life.
Ryota's obsession stems from childhood trauma: his childhood friend Kuroneko died in an accident while trying to prove aliens existed. One day, a transfer student named Neko Kuroha arrives who looks identical to Kuroneko.
Ryota soon discovers that Neko is an escaped lab experiment possessing superhuman magic abilities, but relies on a daily life-sustaining medication to survive. Neko and other escaped girls are ruthlessly hunted by the mysterious organization that created them.
Determined not to lose a friend again, Ryota uses his sharp analytical intellect to protect the girls from deadly assassins. The narrative blends high-stakes sci-fi suspense, tragic romantic drama, and intense survival mechanics.
