Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku is a dark fantasy action manga written and illustrated by Yuji Kaku. The narrative centers on Gabimaru the Hollow, an elite assassin ninja from Iwagakure who has been sentenced to death after attempting to leave his clan.
Unable to be executed due to his supernatural durability and lingering devotion to his wife, Gabimaru receives a unique chance at pardon from executioner Yamada Asaemon Sagiri. To earn his freedom, he must venture to a mysterious, unmapped island called Shinsenkyo and retrieve the legendary Elixir of Life for the Tokugawa Shogunate.
The island proves to be a deceptively grotesque paradise inhabited by terrifying monstrous deities and deadly flora. Gabimaru must compete against other condemned criminals and their stern executioners while mastering the mysterious cosmic energy known as Tao to survive.
Blending traditional Edo-period ninja folklore with psychological tension and body horror elements, the manga delivers an intense exploration of redemption, love, and humanity. Its vivid artwork and intricate battle system make it one of the defining titles of modern Shonen Jump+.
