About the Series
Phantom Blood is the inaugural story arc of Hirohiko Araki's legendary manga series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from December 1986 to October 1987, it laid the foundation for a decades-long epic.
Set in late 19th-century England, the narrative revolves around Jonathan Joestar, a noble young aristocrat striving to be a true gentleman. His peaceful life is disrupted when his father adopts Dio Brando, an ambitious youth from the slums with a dark heart.
Dio systematically seeks to break Jonathan's spirit and usurp the Joestar fortune. In his pursuit of absolute power, Dio unlocks the sinister secrets of an ancient Mesoamerican artifact known as the Stone Mask, transforming himself into an immortal vampire.
To combat Dio's supernatural terror, Jonathan learns the art of Hamon (Ripple), an ancient martial art harnessing sun-like breathing energy. Guided by the eccentric master Will A. Zeppeli, Jonathan engages in a fatal conflict that determines the fate of generations.
