About the Manga
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is the official prequel spin-off manga based on Kohei Horikoshi's superhero series My Hero Academia. Written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court, it explores the world of hero society prior to the events of the main series.
The story centers on Koichi Haimawari, a university student with a minor Quirk who fights crime illegally under the hero moniker 'The Crawler'. Alongside the battle-hardened Knuckleduster and pop idol Pop☆Step, Koichi defends local neighborhoods outside the official pro hero licensing system.
Set several years before Izuku Midoriya receives One For All, the manga expands on crucial lore such as the rise of illegal Quirk-enhancing drugs like Trigger. It also sheds light on the younger days of established pro heroes like Aizawa and Present Mic.
