Upon returning to Japan, Ryoma enrolls at Seishun Academy (Seigaku), a middle school renowned for its formidable tennis team. Despite being a freshman, he quickly proves his extraordinary skill and earns a starting position on the varsity squad.
As Seigaku competes in prefecture, regional, and national tournaments, Ryoma encounters fierce rivals with uncanny tennis styles and super-human techniques. Through intense matches, Ryoma works to step out of the shadow of his legendary father, Nanjiro Echizen.
