Black Torch is a dark urban fantasy action manga written and illustrated by Tsuyoshi Takaki. The series follows Jiro Azuma, a stubborn high schooler descended from a long line of shinobi, who possesses the rare ability to communicate with animals.
Jiro's quiet life changes forever when he rescues a severely injured black cat named Rago, who is actually a powerful ancient mononoke fleeing rogue spirits. When a deadly enemy fatally wounds Jiro, Rago merges his essence with Jiro's heart to save his life.
Now bound together in a unique symbiotic fusion, Jiro gains immense supernatural powers while retaining his fierce ninja martial techniques. The duo is recruited by the Public Bureau of Shinobi Affairs to defeat malicious mononoke threatening humanity.
