About the Series

Look Back is a celebrated 143-page one-shot manga created by Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto. Published on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ platform in July 2021, it garnered over 2.5 million views within its first 24 hours.

The story follows Fujino, a fourth-grader with an innate confidence in her four-panel manga strips published in the school newspaper. Her worldview is challenged when the school principal gives space to Kyomoto, a shut-in classmate whose drawing technique far surpasses Fujino's.

Driven by rivalry, Fujino relentlessly practices her drawing skills to match Kyomoto, only to eventually give up. However, upon delivering Kyomoto's graduation diploma in person, Fujino discovers that Kyomoto has been her biggest fan, igniting a deep artistic partnership between them.

As the girls grow older and produce manga together, their paths eventually diverge, leading to unexpected tragedy and poignant reflection. Look Back offers a profound meditation on grief, artistic creation, and how connection shapes our lives.
