About the Series

Mashle: Magic and Muscles is set in a world where magic status determines one's social standing and mark on their face. Those without magic are considered a threat to society and purged. Main character Mash Burnedead is born completely magicless, living secretly in the forest with his adoptive father Regro while building superhuman physical strength.

After his secret is discovered by police officer Brad Coleman, Mash agrees to enroll in the prestigious Easton Magic Academy. His goal is to earn the title of Divine Visionary, the top student position, so he and his father can live in peace. To survive, Mash must fake magical abilities by performing absurd physical feats, such as deflecting spells with his bare hands.

Created by Hajime Komoto, Mashle combines deadpan visual comedy with intense shonen tournament-style battles. Along the way, Mash forms bonds with loyal eccentric friends like Finn Ames, Lance Crown, and Dot Barrett. The narrative balances lighthearted humor, such as Mash's obsessed love for cream puffs, with high-stakes clashes against dark magical factions like Innocent Zero.

Serializing in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2020 to 2023 and ending with 18 volumes, Mashle achieved worldwide success. Its inventive parody of magical academy tropes and infectious humor have made it a beloved modern shonen hit.
