About this series

Teiichi: Battle of Supreme High (Teiichi no Kuni) is a celebrated political satire manga by acclaimed avant-garde artist Usamaru Furuya. Set during the Showa era at Kaizai Academy, an elite boys' high school that has produced generations of prime ministers, the series lampoons real-world political factionalism.

The protagonist Teiichi Akaba is a fiercely ambitious freshman whose ultimate dream is to become Prime Minister of Japan and create his own empire. To achieve this, he pledges to first secure the coveted position of Kaizai High's student council president.

The campaign process at Kaizai is anything but typical. Student candidates engage in intense bribery, tactical betrayals, faction formation, and dramatic loyalty tests that parody adult election machinery with deadpan theatrical seriousness.

Blending Showa-era aesthetic design with melodramatic comedy, Furuya delivers a masterpiece that seamlessly balances high-stakes political maneuvering with laugh-out-loud absurdism.
