About the Series

World Trigger is a sci-fi tactical action series created by Daisuke Ashihara. When a gate to another dimension opened in Mikado City, mysterious invaders called Neighbors threatened humanity until the defense organization Border repelled them. Years later, high school student Osamu Mikumo encounters Yuma Kuga, a humanoid Neighbor possessing extraordinary combat abilities.

Unlike traditional battle manga that rely on sudden power-ups, World Trigger prioritizes strategy, team composition, and precise energy resource management. Characters utilize standardized technology known as Triggers, which converted combatants' internal energy called Trion into body suits and specialized weaponry. This universal combat framework makes every clash a test of tactics rather than raw strength.

The story places heavy emphasis on rank wars and structured squad competitions within Border. Osamu, Yuma, and sniper Chika Amatori form the Tamakoma-2 squad, striving to rise through official rankings to join the Away Squad expedition. Their journey highlights how clever coordination and situational awareness can overcome individual power deficits.

With its sprawling cast of distinct characters and transparent magic system, the series offers a deeply rewarding experience for readers who appreciate tactical depth. Daisuke Ashihara's world-building balances intense competitive battles with intriguing plot threads about the mysterious Neighbor dimensions.
